<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of improving a response speed in a simple configuration compared to the prior art. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a video signal of an input image fin(N) is subjected to overdriving, an overdrived video signal (output image fout(N)) is generated based on the input image fin(N) (image of the current frame (N frame)), the last image fbuf1(N) which is an image in the last frame ((N-1) frame), and accessory information fbuf2(N) representing a simplified state of a liquid crystal element in each pixel 4 in the last frame. By using the accessory information fbuf2(N)(7, 72 to 75) that takes the past information backward from the last frame ((N-1) frame) into consideration and is represented as simplified, more effective overdriving is possible and the configuration is made simple compared to the prior art.
