The invention relates to a monitoring system for an accumulator with a sensor device (20, 22) that can be electrically connected to and placed on an accumulator (12) of a motor vehicle, said sensor device being designed to detect an operational value of the accumulator (12). The monitoring system for an accumulator further comprises a sensor circuit (42) that is connected to the sensor device (20, 22) via a cable connection and a data processing circuit (44) that is connected to the sensor circuit via a potential disconnect circuit (80). According to the invention the potential disconnect circuit comprises a disconnection of the potential level (ME) of the sensor circuit (42) from a potential level (Mo) of the data processing circuit (44) for equal components. The invention further relates to an associated method for the interference free electric coupling of a sensor device.
