The device (1) has a controller unit (13) provided for controlling display parameters based on control variables. Two projection lenses (8, 9) form an image to be displayed and/or information to be displayed and guide ambient lights (7a, 7b) from an environment of a driver (3) and/or a vehicle (19) over a light path (5) in the device. A sensor (11) measures the light intensity of the ambient lights and transmits the light intensity as the control variable to the controller unit in the light path.
