The LED module has two assembly plates (100) i.e. metal core plates, on which respective semiconductor light sources (110, 210) are arranged. A flexible mechanical and electrical connection i.e. cable, is provided between the assembly plates. A central electrical connection is provided for supplying power to the light sources on the assembly plates. The light sources are attached to metallic surfaces of the assembly plates. Diodes are arranged on the assembly plates for protecting the light sources from electrostatic discharge or from excessive voltage.
