Vibration damper i.e. double tube damper, for wheel suspension of motor vehicle, has check valve formed by lip that permits overflow of medium in direction of balancing region and locks overflow in opposite direction

The damper has a working region (4) divided in to two working chambers (6, 7) by a piston (5). An overflow channel connects one of the chambers with a balancing region (3). A control valve (15) is arranged in the overflow channel for adjusting flow of working medium from the chamber in to the balancing region. A check valve is formed between the control valve and the balancing region in the overflow channel by a lip provided at a piston rod seal (12). The lip permits an overflow of the medium in direction of the balancing region and locks overflow in opposite direction.
