<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance semiconductor ring laser gyro although it is small and inexpensive. <P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor ring laser gyro 1 includes: a semiconductor laser 2 emitting light from both end faces; an optical fiber ring 3 which circulates the light emitted from both the end faces of the semiconductor laser in opposite directions, the optical fiber ring 3, together with the semiconductor laser, constituting a resonator; and a photodetector part 9 for detecting the rotational angular velocity from beat frequencies of the two lights circulated in the optical fiber in the opposite directions. The optical fiber ring 3 includes a sensing coil 6 constituted by multiply winding the optical fiber around a cylindrical bobbin. The total length L of the optical fiber is set at a length so that a ring resonance frequency F<SB>rlg</SB>(=C/nL) and a beat frequencyΔF<SB>beat</SB>(=2rΩ/nλ) satisfy 2ΔF<SB>beat_max</SB><F<SB>rlg</SB>≤10ΔF<SB>beat_min</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
