PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric including thermoplastic fiber, such as polyester nonwoven fabric, which nonwoven fabric is unburnable level. SOLUTION: A self-extinguishing nonwoven fabric is provided by adhering on a nonwoven fabric at least one penetrant of a surfactant, a water-soluble resin or a hydrophilic resin, and adhering a boric compound on the nonwoven fabric surface or the nonwoven fabric inner layer. The self-extinguishing nonwoven fabric is obtained by soaking a nonwoven fabric in a mixture solution and drying, which mixture solution includes an aqueous solution of a boric ion polycondensate salt and at least one penetrant solution of a surfactant aqueous solution, a water-soluble resin aqueous solution or a hydrophilic resin emulsion.
