PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tentering machine eliminating a trouble occurring because a wet film is retained by a clip whose temperature is made high. SOLUTION: The tentering machine 10 infinitely circulates a pair of right and left chains 22, 23 provided with a large number of clips 45 and, at the same time, stretches the wet film 16 in the width direction while conveying the wet film in one direction in a closed casing 15. The stretching is performed while drying the wet film 16 by blowing dry wind to the wet film 16 with a drying mechanism 12 to stepwise raise the temperature of the wet film 16. The right and left chains 22, 23 clamp the wet film 16 with conveyance guide parts 20a, 21a, thereafter, release the clamping, are guided by return guide parts 20c, 21c disposed on an outer part of the casing 15, are sent in the direction inverse to the conveyance direction and are returned into the casing 15 again. Clip cooling mechanisms 13, 14 are disposed on the return guide parts 20c, 21c. The clip cooling mechanisms 13, 14 cool the clips 45 whose temperature is made high in the casing, outside the casing.
