PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for economically and simply producing a fluorine-containing 5-membered ring compound. SOLUTION: The method for producing a fluorine-containing 5-membered ring compound represented by formula (3) comprises reacting a hexafluoropropene dimer represented by (CF<SB>3</SB>)<SB>2</SB>=CF(CF<SB>2</SB>CF<SB>3</SB>) with an alcohol represented by XCH<SB>2</SB>CHROH in an aprotic polar solvent in the presence of an organic base catalyst.
