<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses image quality degradation of a secondary transfer image resulting from variation in belt thickness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: an endless belt 8 rotated at a predetermined belt linear velocity V2 by rotation of a drive roller 11; a primary transfer section that primarily transfers a toner image, formed on an image carrier 4, to the endless belt 8; a paper conveying section 17 that conveys paper P at a predetermined paper conveyance speed; a secondary transfer section 18 disposed in a secondary transfer position P1 on the endless belt 8 and used for secondarily transferring the toner image, primarily transferred to the endless belt 8, to paper P; and a setting section 101 that sets roller linear velocity V3 for the drive roller 11. Using a correction value predetermined according to a difference between a reference belt thickness T and the thickness t of the endless belt 8, the setting section 101 corrects a predetermined roller linear velocity V3' set in advance according to the predetermined reference belt thickness T of the endless belt 8.
