PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF OPTICALLY ACTIVE AMINE DERIVATIVE

A novel enzyme capable of reducing an imine derivative stereoselectively is isolated and purified, and a polynucleotide encoding the enzyme is cloned.  An optically active amine derivative can be produced by: reacting an imine derivative with a culture or a cell of a microorganism capable of reducing the compound stereoselectively, a treatment product of the culture or the cell, or an imine reductase to thererby produce the optically active amine derivative; and collecting the optically active amine derivative.  For example, this process can produce an optically active compound represented by formula (IV) [wherein the group R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and n represents an integer of 1 to 4].
