A rectal balloon apparatus (10) has a shaft (12) with a fluid passageway extending therethrough. A balloon (14) is affixed over an end of the shaft (12) such that the fluid passageway communicates with an interior of the balloon (14). The balloon (14) has a laterally flat surface thereon when inflated. The laterally flat surface of the balloon has a longitudinal groove formed thereon. The balloon (14) has a radiation sensor (70) positioned within the groove (52) and a plurality of fiducial markers (72) positioned on a surface of the balloon. A stopper (13) is slidably mounted on the shaft. |
