The transmission assembly has a transmission (10) adjustable between multiple gears. A control processor (7) supports a manual operating mode in which a control lever (1) controls the switching of the transmission between the gears corresponding to a detected movement of the control lever, and an automatic operating mode. The control lever is movable between multiple positions assigned to one of the gears. The control processor is moved between the automatic operating mode and the manual operating mode by moving the control lever to one of the positions assigned to the gear. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a motor vehicle comprising an internal combustion engine (2) a method for operating a control processor of an automated manual transmission assembly.
