PURPOSE: A method for separating halocabons is provided to independently separate halocarbons from a composition including two different halocarbons at a temperature which is lower than the freezing point of a first halocarbon and is higher than the freezing point of a second halocarbon. CONSTITUTION: A method for separating a first halocarbon from a composition including a first halocarbon and a second halocarbon different from the first halocarbon comprises a step of cooling the composition including the first halocarbon and the second halocarbon to a temperature which is lower than the freezing point of the first halocarbon and is higher than the freezing point of the second halocarbon. The first halocarbon and at least one second halocarbon form an azeotropic material or an azeotropelike material.
