PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for monitoring a hybridization during a polymerase chain reaction. SOLUTION: The method is achieved by the use of rapid thermal cycling and the use of a double-stranded DNA dye or a specific hybridization probe. A fluorescence resonance energy transfer pair includes fluorescein and Cy5 or Cy5.5.
