<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet type multi-plate clutch equipped with a friction plate which is low in frictional coefficient during idling, stable in quality without generating a variation in frictional characteristic during engagement, low in shock during engagement, excellent in heat resistance, and sharply reduces dragging torque during idling as compared with conventional ones. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The wet type multi-plate clutch includes the friction plate which fixes frictional substance on both surfaces of core plate having spline at inner diameter side and includes a notch groove having a trailing edge between inner/outer diameters by opening at the inner diameter side and a penetrating groove penetrating from the inner diameter to the outer diameter, and a separator plate providing spline at outer diameter side, wherein a drawing amount at the inner diameter side of the frictional substance fixed in the friction plate is larger than a drawing amount at the outer diameter side.
