<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor which can be made thin. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The linear motor 10 has a flat coil 4 made up of a flat, spiral coil portion 4a and a coil portion 4b, a fixed portion 2 including a frame portion 2a with an inner face 2e extended linearly, and a magnet 1 having a polar face opposite to the flat coil 4, and arranged along the surface of the flat coil 4 and movable along the inner face 2e of the frame portion 2a.
