Further, the invention relates to a relay (27) for switching high load currents with a contact assembly (1). Finally, the invention relates to a method for mounting a relay (27) for switching high load currents. For the simple, electrically conductive connection of the braid (4) and the switch contact (2) without the contact assembly (1) produced requiring much space within the relay (27), it is provided in accordance with the invention that the connection element (5) is equipped with a contact portion (6) directly connected to the switch contact (2) and with a connection strap (7) connected to the braid end (3), wherein the connection strap (7) is inclined relative to the contact portion (6).
