The method involves producing a transmission signal (11) from a position signal (8) e.g. sinusoidal signal that represents a current position value, where the transmission signal is delivered in form of a rectangular signal. The current position value is reconstructed in a clear manner from the transmission signal. A pre-determined, offset value that represents a temporal derivative of the position value, is transmitted with the current position value to be detected in a combined manner, where the offset value is independent of the moment position value to be detected. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a position measuring system with a measuring device (2) a device for evaluation of the produced transmission signal.
