PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit for an air conditioner, improved in design and low in cost. SOLUTION: An indoor unit body in the indoor unit for the air conditioner includes a plurality of moving devices respectively provided near the right and left ends in the width direction to move a decorative panel in a longitudinal direction by an arm member. The decorative panel is composed of a component formed of translucent resin or translucent coating of transparent resin, and mounted to the moving devices through a plurality of longitudinal fixtures joined in close contact with the rear face near the right and left ends in the width direction and having the height dimension approximately equal to or slightly smaller than the decorative panel. The fixture includes, on the rear face side, an arm fixing part 25a to which an arm member tip part of the moving device is joined. The front face side of the fixture is directly joined to the rear face of the decorative panel 5, and the edge part, located inside the decorative panel, of the fixture is bent in circular arc or inclined sectional shape.
