<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device by which an illumination apparatus can be made small in size. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An aperture hole 14 which straddles over two or three surfaces 11a-11c of a case 11 of a lighting device 10 is provided, thereby, when a lead wire 13 is extracted from the lighting device 10, it gives much more freedom in extraction direction of the lead wire 13. Furthermore, by bending the extracted lead wire 13 at the aperture hole 14 portion, it eliminates an extraction space for housing a bent portion of the lead wire that was provided conventionally as necessary, therefore, the case 15 to house the lighting device 10 can be downsized and the illumination apparatus 110 can be also made small in size.
