<p>Provided is a tripod uniform-motion universal joint wherein the number of manufacturing steps can be decreased by reducing the weight of a leg shaft forming stock, and forging of the leg shaft is facilitated. Also provided is a method for manufacturing the same. A leg shaft is forged while the corner (32) at the distal end of a leg shaft forming stock, (54) is constrained by means of a die (X). In a state that a relief (35) is provided on the distal end side of the die (X), a part of the corner (32) at the distal end of the leg shaft forming stock, (54) including the long diameter side of an ellipse is constrained by means of the die (X). In the die (X), the inner wall of a part for constraining the corner (32) at the distal end of the leg shaft forming stock, (54) has a tapered surface (33). An edge (21) having the cross-sectional area thereof reducing toward the distal end side is formed, by the above at a part including the long diameter side of an ellipse near the distal end of the outer circumferential surface (30) of the leg shaft (4), and a tapered surface (20) extending from the edge (21) toward the distal end side is formed. Centering of the leg shaft (4) is performed by making the edge (21) abut, at two places thereof on the long diameter side of an ellipse, on a centering tool.</p> |
