The apparatus has a tray arranged in an inner space of the apparatus for placing cooling and freezing goods. The tray is operatable at two different temperatures, where the goods are coolable under freezing point at one of the temperatures and are freezable at the other temperature. A temperature regulating unit regulates temperature of the tray. A controlling unit controls operating parameter of the tray, where the operating parameter is inputted and outputted by an input unit and an output unit, respectively. A monitoring unit monitors temperature of the goods in the tray. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a cooling and freezing apparatus.
