PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector with a long life without being damaged even when being used for connection of an optical fiber for high power optical transmission. SOLUTION: The optical connector includes a ferrule holding the optical fiber and a flange brought into contact with the ferrule. The ferrule is composed of at least a light-receiving side of glass, and the glass ferrule is fixed on the flange. The flange is formed of a material with higher thermal conductivity than the glass ferrule, and has a heat dissipation structure or is brought into contact with a heat conduction material with a larger heat capacity than the flange.
