<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing toner particles which, in an electrophotographic process, an electrostatic recording process or the like, ensure excellent colorability and concealing property of a fixed image and achieve higher image quality of the image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of producing the toner particles includes: a mixing step of mixing a resin dispersion prepared by dispersing resin particles comprising a binder resin in a dispersion medium and a colorant dispersion prepared by dispersing a colorant in a dispersion medium to form agglomerates of the binder resin particles and the colorant; and a heating step of heating the agglomerates to a glass transition temperature of the binder resin or above to obtain toner particles in which a plurality of particles of the colorant are joined through a binder resin part formed of the resin particles. The colorant is pigment combined hollow particles which are prepared by dispersing pigment particles in a polymer phase and have at least one void formed within the particle.
