<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stop device for a sliding door capable of stopping the sliding door by the quantity of an opening required by a user by a simple configuration having excellent practicability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The stop device for the sliding door has a cylindrical holder 31 fixed on the sliding door side, an engaging pin 33 movably housed in the holder 31 and having a front end 34 capable of being projected from the opening end of the holder 31 and an urging means 32 urging the engaging pin 33 to a side projecting the front end 34 from the opening end of the holder 31. The stop device for the sliding door further has a lower rail 12 fixed on the car body side and controlling the movement of the engaging pin 33 on the side projecting the front end 34 from the opening end of the holder 31 and a plurality of engaging holes 30 formed at the lower rail 12 and capable of being inserted to the front end 34 at a plurality of specified open/close positions between the full-closing position and full-opening position of the sliding door. The stop device for the sliding door further has a pin-side guide face 34a formed at the front end 34 and having a diameter shrunk toward the front end in the direction of the movement of the engaging pin 33 and rail-side guide faces 30a formed at the engaging holes 30 and having the diameters shrunk toward the front end in the direction of the movement of the engaging pin 33.
