<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a diagonal member for reinforcement which is not influenced by the direction of an external force because of its simple constitution, provide a buckling constraint type diagonal member for reinforcement which can be easily formed, and provide a construction method which can easily obtain initial stiffness and proof stress as a diagonal member for reinforcement. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A twisted plate 2 which is formed by twisting a slim flat plate in a helical state is used as a diagonal member for reinforcement such as a bracing member which is arranged diagonally with respect to a plane of a quadrilateral formed by a pillar, a beam or the like. By bringing a buckling constraint tube into external engagement with the twisted plate 2, it can also be used as a buckling constraint type diagonal member for reinforcement. Furthermore, by adjusting the stiffness as a diagonal member by the size of the twisting pitch of the twisted plate 2, the initial stiffness and proof stress as a diagonal member for reinforcement can be realized more simply.
