<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope coming-off detection device for an elevator capable of properly transmitting detection signals to a control device controlling an operation of the elevator by detecting rope coming-off of a hoisting wheel installed to an elevating body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This device comprises a hoisting wheel installed to an elevating body arranged in a hoistway 1 of an elevator and having a rope groove on an outer circumference, a hoisting rope 6 wrapped around the rope groove, hoisting and supporting the elevating body, and elevating the elevating body by moving, a rope coming-off detector 11 installed to the elevating body near the hoisting wheel and wirelessly transmitting the detection signals when coming-off of the hoisting rope 6 from the rope groove is detected, and a receiver 12 installed in the hoistway 1, receiving the detection signal and transmitting them to a control device controlling an operation of the elevator.
