The roof (10) has transverse convertible top bows (36A, 36B) displaceably guided over convertible top bow sliders (38A, 38B) in a vehicle longitudinal direction in guide rails (28). The sliders are provided with a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism locks the sliders against the guide rails with a slider element (24) attached to the guide rails during releasing of a roof opening and during releasing of the sliders. The locking mechanism releases the sliders from the slider element during closing of the roof opening and during locking of the sliders at the guide rails.
