PURPOSE: A hydrogen tank protective device for a fuel cell vehicle is provided to move a hydrogen tank frontward and protect a hydrogen tank in case a vehicle with the hydrogen tank is exposed to a rear vehicle crash. CONSTITUTION: A hydrogen tank protective device for a fuel cell vehicle comprises linear motors(2a,2b), linear motor guides(6a,6b), a fluid pressure stopper(7), and an electronic control unit(ECU). The linear relatively moves a hydrogen tank(3) to the front of the vehicle body. The linear motor guide guides the movement of the hydrogen tank. The fluid pressure stopper is installed in the vehicle body. The electronic control unit senses pile-up accidents and controls the fluid pressure stopper to release the linear motor guide. The electronic control unit applies operation power on the linear motor. The hydrogen tank is relatively moved to the vehicle body by the linear motor.
