<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical apparatus that prevents turbulence of an image, and accurately detects the object position on an image display surface. <P>SOLUTION: The position of the object such as a finger or a pen chip for indicating a certain point on the image display surface is detected based on the light quantity of the whole image display surface measured by a light quantity detecting element. The image is displayed by a liquid crystal element formed of first and second electrodes and the liquid crystal that is gripped by them and whose optical characteristic is changed by supply of a predetermined potential. In this case, the polarity of the potential difference applied between the first and second electrodes is reversed in a predetermined cycle ("VCOM" in the figure shows a waveform of the potential of one of the first and second electrodes). The position detection is performed based on the measurement result except the measurement result of the light quantity detecting element at the reverse timings (K1 and K2) of the polarity (Refer to the waveform of "read-out signals" in the figure). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
