<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update an image information list according to a writing subject when image data is written into a memory card by a host computer or a built-in scanner. <P>SOLUTION: A service layer 220 requests a file list manager 430 to prepare an image information list when a memory card is loaded in a printer. When the memory card is removed, the service layer 220 requests the file list manager 430 to discard the list. When a host computer PC or a printer scanner function writes image data into the memory card, and a print instruction is issued, the service layer 220 requests the file list manager 430 to update the list.
