PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external short-circuit system capable of securing the movement of a vehicle having a battery module by surely externally short-circuiting unit batteries having a largely degraded discharge and charge capacity by a simple structure in the battery module composed of a lot of unit batteries. SOLUTION: The external short-circuit system for a battery module includes a battery layered product in which the plurality of unit batteries which are configured as rectangular alkali-based secondary batteries and connected in series and a plurality of plate-like conductive members are layered alternately, and a short-circuit member which short-circuits between positive and negative electrode current collectors which are disposed so as to face each other in the stack direction of the battery layered product in thetteries, wherein an engaging hole which extends perpendicularly to the stack direction of the battery layered product is opened in the conductive members, and the short-circuit member is composed of a plate-like body section and an engaging protrusion which is projected into the body section and engages with each engaging hole of two conductive members next to each other via the unit battery.
