PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer that suppresses inertia rotation of a rolled paper after a platen roller stops, without damaging the rolled paper, and smoothly performs an initial operation for the rolled paper. SOLUTION: A rolled paper holding mechanism 20 includes: a shaft 52 inserted into a hollow hole 10 in the rolled paper P and supporting the rolled P; and a holder 51 having supports 55 and 56 supporting the pole 61 of the shaft 52.
