<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compatibly perform high recording density and high speed data transfer using a bit patterned medium in a recording method and a storage device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the recording method for recording data in a recording medium wherein a recording area is divided into a plurality of areas in a radial direction, information on combination of tracks in each area, assignment of data to each track and a recording order to each track is previously preserved in a memory so that data processing time required for recording preparation is the shortest, data to be recorded in the recording medium are divided as one set of the plurality of areas based on the information preserved in the memory and the divided data are recorded in tracks in corresponding areas on the recording medium by using the same number of heads as the plurality of areas according to the information preserved in the memory.
