摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a sufficiently high PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) period and a sufficiently low PWM period compatible with each other for both requirements from a servo frequency band and from a signal frequency band by adopting a PWM mode as an actuator driving method of an optical pickup. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A driving device drives the actuators in the optical pickup 10 which includes an objective lens 4 and actuators 5, 6 to support the objective lens 4 movably and which reproduces or records an information signal from or on an optical disk 1 via the objective lens 4. The driving device includes an actuator driver 27 which generates a driving signal for each PWM period with the PWM mode and drives the actuators by using the generated driving signals. The actuator driver 27 makes the PWM period change based on at least one of reproducing state information shown by the reproduced information signal and driving state information showing the driving state of the actuators.
