The device has an old-oil reservoir (22) connected to an operational-oil circuit of a lubricant guiding device (10). An inlet line connects a fresh-oil reservoir (20) with the operational-oil circuit, and an outlet line (26) connects the old-oil reservoir with the operational-oil circuit. A solenoid valve (28) blocks the inlet- and outlet lines, and a control unit controls the solenoid valve. A filling-level meter (30) is connected with the operational-oil circuit. The fresh-oil and old-oil reservoirs are arranged above and below the operational-oil circuit, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatically changing and/or refilling a lubricant.
