A compound for organic thin-film transistors, which has a structure represented by formula (1). In formula (1), R1 and R2, and R3 and R4 respectively combine together to form an aromatic hydrocarbon ring having 6-60 carbon atoms or an aromatic heterocyclic ring having 3-60 carbon atoms, said rings being fused to respective rings to which the groups are bonded.  As a result, the structure of formula (1) has 5 or more aromatic rings fused together.  In this connection, the fused rings respectively formed of R1 and R2, and R3 and R4 may have a substituent.
