(A) Racemic cpds. of formulae (I)-(IV), their d- and l-forms and mixtures thereof, and 8(9)-dehydro, 8(9), 14(15)-bisdehydro and 8(9), 15(16)-bisdehydro analogues of (I): where R1 = H or C1-4 alkyl, R = R2 = h or the acyl residue of a C1-12 hydrocarbon carboxylic acid, R3 = C1-4 alkyl. (B) Intermediates (VII) and (VIII) Depending on substitution, the new products are either estrogens which also lower blood cholesterol levels without reducing fertility or are antiandrogens and antiestrogens. They are active in mammals, birds and other animals. |
