[Also in Division H1] A vehicle steering wheel includes an electrically conductive annular rim member 11 of semicircular cross-section having integral therewith diametrically opposed spokes 12 of similar cross-section; an electrically insulating annular moulding 14 of channel-shaped cross-section secured to the member 11; an annular contact strip 16 secured to the moulding 14 and insulated from the member 11 by the moulding 14; a contact piece 19 in the form of a horn ring slidably mounted in the moulding; and a plurality of conductive compression springs 24 which urge the contact piece 19 away from the contact strip 16, and which electrically connect the contact piece 19 to the member 11, so that the contact piece forms with the contact strip a switch that is closed by engaging the contact piece 19 with the contact strip 16. The moulding 14 includes integral spoke portions 15 which engage the spokes 12 to define a channel along one of which passes an electrical conductor lead 26, which connects the contact strip to the horn. |
