Adaptive codebook with compressed feedback

It is described a feedback sending station (MS 1,....MS N MS ) comprising a message generator for generating a feedback message (i 1 ,...i N MS ) indicating a channel state (C i 1 ,...C iN MS ) by using a codebook containing a plurality of codes, wherein each of said plurality of codes is indicative of a corresponding channel state. The feedback message ((i 1 ) refers to one code of said plurality of codes as a feedback code and has a bit length which depends on a probability for a transition from a currently used code to said feedback code to which the feedback message refers. A feedback receiving station (BS 1,....,BS N BS ) comprises a code selector for selecting a corresponding feedback code out of said codebook depending on both said code indicating element and a currently used code.
