PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect the attitude of an electronic component by providing means for determining the attitude of the electronic component from comparison of a measured thickness value with a width value. SOLUTION: First a vacuum nozzle vacuum chucks a component (step ST1), the thickness value of the electronic component is obtained (ST2), the thickness of the component is compared with data in an allowable range, based on the measurement result (ST3), the component is discarded as a defective, if it is determined as being out of the allowable range (ST8) or the lateral direction of the component is obtained, if the thickness is determined to be within the allowable range (ST4), the component is discarded, if its width is determined to be out of the allowable range (ST8), the thickness and the width of the component are compared for determining the attitude of the component (ST6), it is determined as being satisfactory, if the width is greater than the thickness (ST7), or it is discarded (ST8), if the width is less than the thickness, and the electronic component determined satisfactory above its attitude is mounted on a board at a mounting station (ST9). |
