摘要 1,220,771. Forging ; casting - machines. NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP. 3 March, 1969 [26 April, 1968], No. 11195/69. Headings B3F and B3H. A machine for casting workpieces and then forging them comprises a turntable 24 with fingers 134 to support the workpieces cast at a station 126, Fig. 2, and an hydraulic pistoncylinder unit 84, Fig. 4, to raise the turntable for indexing and to lower it to engage a locking pin 88. The turntable 24 is rotatably mounted with an annular plate 32 which has spaced holes 36, Fig. 3, which are engaged by the pin 88. The pin is mounted on a sleeve 66 on a shaft 62 about which a yoke 54, which is moved by the unit 84 to raise and lower the turntable 24, is rotatably mounted. The indexing mechanism comprises a ring 90 rotatably mounted relative to the turntable and having a pin 98 spring- biased downwards on to the plate 32. The ring 90 is rotated by an hydraulic piston-cylinder unit 116 to move the pin above the hole next to the one engaged by the locking-pin. When the turntable is raised, the locking pin 88 is disengaged to allow the unit 116 to index the table. The indexing pin 98 is pushed out of the hole by the locking pin as the turntable is lowered. The casting station 126, Fig. 2, comprises a lower mould 138 with a main cavity 139, runner 141 and four open-ended channels 142. The fingers 134 each have a T or dovetail sectioned slot into which the metal can flow so that the casting is supported by integral arms when the turntable is raised. An upper mould member or core may be used and a combination of pieces may be cast. The cast workpiece is indexed to a station between the casting and forging stations 126 and 128 for cooling. . The forging station 128 comprises an upper platen 145 with a die 144 moved by an hydraulic unit 149 and a lower die 152 mounted on a bolster 150. The bolster is mounted on a platen 154 which has arms 156 each with a sleeve 158 to allow raising and lowering of the bolster. The platen 154 is connected to table 174 by a pair of blocks 162, 166 pivoted to the platen 154 and the table 174. The table is moved horizontally by an hydraulic unit 192 to lower the lower die after forging. An ejector pin 214 is fixed to the bed 10 by rods 202 so that the workpiece is ejected as the die is lowered. The trimming station. Fig. 9 (not shown), comprises a pair of dies (217), (218) and a hollow table 215 to receive the forged parts. The scrap arms are ejected from the fingers 134 at a station 132 by a forked member (225), Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown), mounted on a bellcrank (228) moved by an hydraulic unit (248). A trough (252) on the bell-crank receives the ejected arms and deposits them into a bin upon further tilting of the bell-crank. The sequence of operation of the hydraulic units may be under manual or automatic control.
