PURPOSE: A standby power cutting device and a control method thereof are provided to apply a standby power cutting device and a control method thereof to an electric device, thereby cutting standby power using an existing general outlet. CONSTITUTION: A standby power cutting device and a control method thereof include a striker(104), a striker contact(106), a core(111), and a solenoid(110). The striker is movable toward the direction of one side by pushing a knob switch for turning on/off the power of an electronic device. The striker contact is fixed to one side of the striker in order to detach/attach one contact point of a power cable from/ to other contact point of the power cable. The core includes a magnet(112) for maintaining the connection between one contact point and other contact point by pulling the striker through magnetic force. When turning off the power of an electronic device, a solenoid generates repulsive force against a magnet in order to detach one contact point from other contact point. |
