PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reception performance of an ATSC VSB system being a terrestrial DTV system for the United States. SOLUTION: A digital broadcasting transmitter includes: a processor for robustly processing a stream to be transmitted against an error; and a trellis-parity corrector trellis-encoding the processed stream, resetting at least one internal memory to be used for trellis encoding at a prescribed time point, and correcting a parity changed by resetting. The processor includes the first converter inputting and converting the byte unit stream; an outer encoder encoding the converted stream and outputting the symbol unit stream; an outer interleaver for interleaving the stream to be output from the outer encoder; and the second converter converting the interleaved symbol unit stream into the byte unit stream.
