PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic key minimizing an increase of power consumption even when a display means is mounted. SOLUTION: The electronic key includes: a transmitting/receiving means 5 capable of performing radiocommunication with a control object (vehicle) A having a lockable/unlockable door; the display means 6 displaying various information; and a control means 3 controlling the transmitting/receiving means 5 and the display means 6. The electronic key is capable of transmitting a locking/unlocking control signal for controlling locking and unlocking of the door, at least from the transmitting/receiving means 5. The control means 3 drives the display means 6 in a normal mode when determining a communicable state with the control object A and drives the display means 6 in a power-saving mode lower in power consumption than the normal mode when determining a noncommunicable state with the control object A.
