<p>The invention relates to additives which, when mixed with petroleum-derived oils, act as anti-gumming, anti-fouling and asphaltene dispersants. The inventive additives are characterised in that they contain condensed sulphonic alkyl cresyl acids, activity enhancers and a naphthenic base. Preferably, said additives are synthesised from refinery streams without any pre-treatment and they do not require separation and concentration steps after each reaction. The invention also relates to the process used to produce the condensed sulphonic alkyl cresyl acids.</p> |
