PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce processing time by facilitating the recognition of an align key when forming a light shielding member in a structure in which a color filter and the light shielding member are formed on a display panel on which a pixel electrode is formed. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display manufacturing method comprises the following steps: a step of forming an align key(800) on a substrate(110); a step of forming a light shielding layer(220a); a step of recognizing the align key by penetrating infrared ray into the light shielding layer; a step of forming a light shielding member by developing the light shielding layer.
