PURPOSE: A machining method for manufacture of a running surface on a cylinder wall of a cylinder liner of a reciprocating piston combustion engine is provided to extend the service life of the cylinder liner by spirally brushing or precisely grinding the cylinder running surface with a grinding brush or cork stone. CONSTITUTION: A machining method for manufacture of a running surface(1) on a cylinder wall(2) of a cylinder liner(3) of a reciprocating piston combustion engine comprises steps of providing a cylinder liner blank, and turning the cylinder wall with a lathe. The lathe and the cylinder wall are relatively moved at the specific transfer speed along a cylinder axis(4). A capillary type micro-structure(6) is formed on the cylinder wall through precision turning and spirally extended along the cylinder axis.
