On folding the back rest 10, of a vehicle seat, forwardly, link 23 is moved rearwardly to tilt strut 19 and allow the seat frame 15 to turn about its hinge connection 16, so that the front rests on fixed support 18. Hinged flap 25 falls into place to form a continuous extension of load-carrying platform 13. In the unfolded position, strut 19 is upright and frame 15 is supported on roller 29.
